On some action nominals in Hittite. The locution arkuwar tiyauwar

Action nominals are mixed categories: although they have nominal external distribution, their internal syntax is not unlike that of a verb phrase. The ambivalence of action nominals manifests itself in the structure of action nominal constructions: in some aspects they look like other noun phrases, while in others they show clear similarities with finite clauses. The aim of this paper is to investigate the locution arkuwar tiyauwar within the theoretical framework provided by typological studies.
