The analysis of the zooarchaeological assemblage, discovered in the Karomama’s tomb shaft, confirms the existence of a particular funerary practice. Consisting almost exclusively of mammal remains, the funerary deposit mainly contains a succession of skeletal parts of caprine, and bovine to a lesser degree. The presence of dog remains amongst the funeral offerings is quite unusual.

A comparison with a tomb shaft of the Late Period discovered at the temple of Amenhotep II (located in western Thebes, north of the Ramesseum) allows us to consider the possibility of a local funeral practice, which would have flourished between the Third Intermediate Period and Late Period, perhaps even until the Ptolemaic Period.
