Controverses autour de l’âge du Christ

 = Paper =

by Jean REYNARD, in PINCHARD L. and HAELEWYCK J.-C.

Jean Reynard presents the testimony of Irenaeus for whom Jesus did not die at thirty, but at fifty. Indeed, Christ, a true man, lived through all the ages of life, including that of master, a quality that is only acquired in one's fifties. Irenaeus bases himself in particular on Jn 8:57. To refute the arguments of the Docets, Irenaeus did not hesitate to overturn the traditional chronology. This surprising vision has not remained without echoes in the patristic tradition.
