This article presents an endeavour of Editio Critica Major of the Catholic Epistles in old Georgian: James 1, 1-19 is edited according to ten old manuscripts. There have been two Georgian translations from a Greek palestinian text: one in the biblical manuscripts and one in the liturgical Lectionaries (liturgy of Jerusalem). The biblical translation has been twice revised in the eleventh century, first in the monastery of Iviron on mount Athos, by Giorgi the Hagiorite – it became the "vulgata" text for the Georgian Church, and then on the Black Mountain by Ephrem the Minor/ Mtsire; both on a byzantine text. The present edition includes quotations and allusions in the old Georgian literature, original or translated.
